Moreover, we also manufacture the classic 225L casks in order to be able to offer our clients a complete range of sizes to cover all their needs. We work with all types of oak: American, French and European (Bulgarian, Hungarian, Spanish and Slovenian).

Toasting is a burning process applied to the interior surfaces of barrel and cask staves, which causes chemical and physical changes in the wood that directly influence the subsequent ageing process of spirits. In this process, the content of tannins, anthocyanins, and the balance between them play a decisive role. As a general rule, it can be said that higher levels of toasting result in a broader aromatic range but less expression of the wood tannins.
At Tonelería Arroyo Romero we have accumulated extensive experience in toasting processes using traditional methods. We offer different toasting levels to fit our customers needs.
A light toasting will add a subtle flavor of nuts and vanilla, sweet notes (caramel), and plenty of tannins to provide structure. It is recommended for white wines.
Medium toasting imparts highly complex aromas of vanilla, fresh bread, spices, and chocolate. It provides a good balance and moderate structure. Recommended for red wine, spirits, and beer.
Medium plus toasting will bring more caramel notes, highly complex aromas of spices, toasted almonds, and roasted coffee. Ideal for highly aromatic wines capable of handling additional aromatic components.
A heavy toasting will provide a very limited tannic effect (the longer and more intense the toasting, the lower the level of tannins becomes). Instead, it offers an intriguing contribution of aromas of coffee beans, ginger, black pepper, and smoky notes.

Subject to availability, we can offer you casks that have been in contact with oloroso, Pedro Ximenez (PX), brandy, amontillado, Port, palo cortado, and other wines for a long time. These types of casks transfers very particular aromas to the liquors, however, their production is very limited. If you are interested in this type of cask, do not hesitate to let us know.
Wooden whiskey barrels often have the most unique flavour profiles. They are used to create the richest, most distinctive tasting spirits. If a wooden barrel encounters a leak, you don’t have to necessarily replace it.
We can give a second life to old barrels and casks that require repair due to the passage of time.
Similarly, if customer wishes, we can use the staves of these casks to make barrels of other dimensions.
